Meet Our Staff

James Duran


James Duran is the owner and lead guide with Luna Canyon Outdoor Adventures. He has invested his heart and soul into the business and enjoys working with hunters of all abilities and skill levels. 


          Hunting since the ripe old age of         12-years-old, James has gained experience and seen much success on both public and private land in New Mexico.


James was introduced to hunting by his father Martin Duran and Stepfather Dickie Gallegos. He was born and raised in the town of Las Vegas, New Mexico.

Charles Gonzales


As a native New Mexican, Charles was born and raised with a passion for hunting and a value for the meat the local animals can provide. He's been fortunate to experience his own success on hunts all around the state of New Mexico and has guided friends and clients to success on their own hunts. He's been a licensed hunting guide in New Mexico for three years with elk and mule deer being his primary focus. When he's not hunting or guiding, Charles works as a firefighter/EMT for the City of Santa Fe.


Charles enjoys working with hunters of all skill levels and makes sure to tailor a hunt to ensure we capitalize on a hunter’s strengths and compensates for any weaknesses, such as injuries or disabilities.




Chris Lucero


Chris was born in Albuquerque, NM and began hunting with his father at the age of 8-years-old. His passion for hunting grew quickly and he turned his passion for the outdoors into a career.  Guiding for several years now, Chris is an expert elk caller and enjoys helping his clients harvest an animal. 


Chris  is regularly praised by his peers as someone who is easy to talk to and a patient teacher. He's great at working with hunters of all skill levels.  


In addition to guiding hunts, Chris also works as an archery tech at an archery shop in Albuquerque. He is well-versed in bow tuning and repairs. 




Martin Duran


Martin Duran is a 3rd generation rancher and has been hunting since he was a young man. He was born in the town of Wheatridge, Colorado and was raised in a town called Chacon, New Mexico. He was introduced to hunting by his grandfather Noe Duran.

Isaiah Gallegos

Dickie Gallegos


Dickie Gallegos is retired from the United States Marine Corps. He was born in the town Las Vegas, New Mexico and raised in Ribera, New Mexico. He was introduced to the world of hunting at the age of 14 by his father.
